1. The drinker's heart is not in the cup, but in the mountains and waters. The joy he gets from them is treasured in the heart, and now and then he will express it through wine-drinking.

2. He delights less in drinking than in the hills and streams, taking pleasure in them and expressing the feeling in his heart through drinking.(杨宪益译)

3. However, Old Drunkard’s heart is not set on the wine, but lies somewhere betwixt the mountains and the rivers. The delight of mountains and rivers comes from the heart, and is derived from wine.(刘师舜译)

4. The Drunken Graybeard does not aim at wine, but at the splendid scenery. The delight it bestows is acquired by heart but deposited in wine.

5. The old drunkard is not interested in the wine, but in the hills and rivers. The joy of hills and rivers, found in the heart, mingles itself with the wine.(潘正英译)

6. But it was not wine that attracted him to this spot; it was the charming scenery which wine enabled him to enjoy. Giles

7. The old man’s interest was not in wine but in the charming scenery all round which gave him such a heartful pleasure that he sought wine to express feelings. (Paul Lee)

8. The mind of the Old Drunkard was attracted not by wine, but by the enjoyment of the hills and streams, which delights the heart and lies in wine.treasury版)

9. The Drunken Old Man's thoughts are not set on wine, but on the pleasures to be found among the mountains and rivers. The Drunken Old Man attains the pleasures of the mountains and rivers in his heart, although he expresses it through his wine. aharmaraja版)

10. The Old Drunkard's intention is not in the wine, but lies between the mountains and the streams. The happiness of mountains and streams is obtained in the heart and lodged in wine. (wiki)

尽管heart指心思不是指器官,cup是指酒不是指酒具,我仍然觉得罗译“heart is not in the cup”太实了,好像“心不在杯子里”,感觉还是用drinking好。另外,刘译“在乎山水之间” somewhere betwixt the mountains and the rivers 和谢译“寓之酒”deposited in wine感觉也太实了。

“山水画译为“landscape painting,“桂林山水译为“the scenery of Guilin都可为证。

另外,“now and then”是原文(至少字面上)没有的。

The delight of mountains and rivers”“The joy of hills and rivers”“The happiness of mountains and streams”山水之乐,终是人乐,是人在山水得到的乐,所以,有点怀疑英译中的“of”恰当否。
